A city airport with closeness to the sea
Halmstad City Airport is a regional city airport, located in the region of Halland next to the Kattegat sea with approximately 3 km to the city center of Halmstad and with a two hour drive south of Gothenburg and a two hour drive north of Copenhagen.
2016-2017 a large reconstruction and extention of the terminalbuilding was made in order to meet the future travler and to offer a modern, functional and accessible terminal with high comfort.
In 2018 , 135 000 passengers (80% business, 20% charter/leisure) departed from Halmstad City Airport and there were in total about 12 000 movements. Halmstad City Airport is in the top twenties of Sweden’s total 38 airports with passenger traffic.
The catchment area, which is the whole region of Halland, east part of the region of Småland and the northwest part of the region of Skåne, reaches approximately 850 000 people. Further the city and municipality of Halmstad is growing with both companies establishments and people who settle down here to live here. Today the municipality of Halmstad has approximately 100 000 inhabitants and the plan – and goal - is to be 150 000 inhabitants in 2050.
Our catchment area, together with our location, then meaning the long distance to go to Gothenburg-Landvetter airport and Copenhagen-Kastrup airport gives very good opportunities for new routes and destinations for both business and leisure travelers.
At Halmstads City Airport we constantly work with our environment and sustainability.
We were i.e the second airport in Sweden (2017) to offer the aviation industry biofuel, where we have an average blend of 5% biofuel together with JET A1 aviation fuel on a yearly basis, all our ground vechicles are 100% fossil free, we have 223 solar panels on our terminal roof to produce some of our own used electricity, we have LED lightning in all areas - both inside and outside - at the airport etc.
