Amadeus acquires Voxel

Spanish multinational technology company Amadeus has announced the acquisition of Voxel, an electronic invoice and B2B payment solutions provider for travel sellers, hotels, and other travel players. Financial details of the deal have not been confirmed. Voxel was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. The acquisition, which is now closed, will result in over 200 Voxel employees joining Amadeus.

Southwest acquires ethanol-SAF company SAFFiRE

Southwest Airlines has acquired sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) company SAFFiRE Renewables after investing in the US Department of Energy (DoE) backed SAF project since it launched its pilot project in 2022.  The company, which makes SAF from renewable ethanol, is part of the investment portfolio of the airline’s Southwest Airlines Renewable Ventures subsidiary and will form part of its desire to develop scalable solutions for SAF use. 

Unifi acquires fellow US service provider Prospect

Aviation service provider Unifi Aviation has acquired Prospect Airport Services. Prospect currently operates at 30 airports across the US. The company provides a range of services, including baggage handling, lost and found, and aircraft cleaning. Wheelchair assistance is the most significant service it offers. Through this acquisition, Unifi claims it is now the largest provider of airport wheelchair services in the US, worth nearly $2m in revenues.

JetBlue and Spirit officially give up merger dream

JetBlue and Spirit Airlines have scrapped their merger deal after months of negotiations and lost legal battles. The 2022 deal should have been worth $3.8bn and would have created the US’s fifth largest airline. In a statement posted online, JetBlue said the decision was made mutually between the airlines.
