ORD ElevateT3

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), is embarking on a significant renovation of Terminal 3 (T3) under the ElevateT3 project. The first phase will see a three-storey expansion on the airside. The renovation will streamline Transportation Security Administration checkpoints. The central passenger corridor between Concourse K and L will be also be expanded to triple its current width.

FLR New Terminal

Location: Florence, Italy

Project type: New international terminal

Expected Completion: 2026 (Phase 1)

Investment: €334.5m

Florence Airport’s (FLR) new terminal will cover an area of 50,000m² and is expected to increase air traffic to 5.8 million passengers a year by 2035. The project includes a 19-acre vineyard, lifting a section of the vineyard above ground level to accommodate the terminal building underneath it. The project is expected to be completed in two stages, with the initial phase planned to be completed by 2026.

AHB Expansion 

Location: Abha, Saudi Arabia

Project type: Expansion

Expected Completion: 2028

Investment: SAR1.8bn ($480m)

Abha International Airport’s (AHB) expansion will increase the terminal space from the existing 10,500m2 to 69,400m2 in the first phase and to 73,200m2 in the second phase. The terminal will include facilities such as retail shops, restaurants, and cafés that will open into landscaped courtyards to allow outdoor sitting. The design draws inspiration from the Rijal Almaa village, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
