Welcome to the 87^th issue of Airport Industry Review.

Just 4.9% of aviation positions in 2021 were staffed by women, and though that number is an increase on previous years, it's still a shameful minority. In our cover story, we look at aviation's gender equality problem and find out what the industry can do in the future to address the balance.

The climate breakdown is becoming increasingly prevalent across global news, and though the aviation sector has been looking at ways to improve its environmental credentials, rapid progress is required. We look into whether sustainable aviation is really possible, and how emissions reductions will affect future demand for aviation fuels.
